Considered one of the most successful opera buffas in the bel canto repertoire, L'Elisir d'amore has also long been Donizetti's most popular work. It is a true sentimental comedy in which the effectiveness of a comic libretto and beautiful musical writing are successfully intertwined. The story is simple: Nemorino is a young villager in love with Adina, a rich and beautiful heiress. In order to seduce her, he buys a love potion that turns out to be ordinary wine... But after many adventures, the two lovebirds end up getting together. The craftsmen of this version intended for young audiences, have chosen to locate the action in a factory that manufactures a syrup that all children hate. In a universe somewhere between Chaplin's Modern Times and Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, who will have the courage to change the recipe to make a delicious sweet drink?
